Sail On

Someone told me last week that 97% of the people we encounter are "crazy". I immediately asked if she counted me in the 3% "not crazy" - I never got a definitive answer. Well, this is going to sound absolutely crazy, but I am thinking of sailing around the world. Read this and you will see that this is a real possibility. Again, this may sound absolutely absurd but if 97% of the people we encounter are crazy, then why shouldn't I be part of them.

Honestly, I watch International House Hunters all the time and I always mutter to myself, why don't I just up and move to one of these places. But now I am thinking, why don't I just sail to all of these places. A friend told me last week that a girl she went to elementary school and high school with sailed around the world with her parents during her middle school years. She spent the most awkward years of her life on a sail boat seeing the world. How awesome is that?

I don't see a lot of downsides to this idea. Think about it like this, I am single, I haven't exactly "started my career," my cat, Sidda, actually likes water, and it would give me time to actually write a book. I could go to great locations all over the world - I could have friends everywhere. Oh, and I could blog about my experiences - this could be fun for all of us.

Of course there are a couple of obstacles in my planning stage - mainly funding, but I am working on a plan. Maybe I could get gigs playing my guitar in various coastal towns that I land in, or I get be sponsored by a magazine to write about this experience. If you have any ideas, let me know. Until then, I will continue to dream, plan, and perfect my boat drinks.

I will get your e-bay boat plans in the mail to you! If any of you blog readers are Jimmy Buffet fans, read his book "A Pirate Looks at Fifty". (I couldn't figure out how to underline the book title.) You will all be bidding on boat plans or taking flying lessons. HAPPY TRAVELING !

I was going to ask about your financial obligations for this trip, but I think the guitar idea sounds great.
